Need header ideas please!
I have a 95 z28 and was wondering what type/brand headers to get.I want longtubes but concerned the inspection place will fail me for no cat even though i don't have to do emissions anymore. Can they do that?Obvisouly if i have no cat that means getting rid of the a.i.r system. Will this cause the ses light to come on..do i need that tuned out?Is there anyway to retain the cat and all emission equip or is that just for mid tubes?I ain't getting these till after xmas so i got time for a decision, but im trying to find the best for my car.Any help is appreciated

If you are emissions exempt and don't have to go in for an inspection anymore then you shouldn't have anything to worry about. As for the type of header you are after, I would do a search on the subject. There have been alot of posts on this topic and quite a bit of good information is floating around.
IMO, if you're getting longtubes, your best bet in the long run is going to be stainless steel with equal-length primaries. For my LS1, I'm a fan of QTP, and they have an LT1 set too. Headers of this type afford the largest increase in power and the most reliability. They're more expensive (expect to pay at least $800 for a set), but fitment is generally better (that means easier installation) and it will keep your underhood temps from getting too high.
You can go the cheap route (something like Pacesetters, which are mild steel and do not have equal-length primaries, but only cost $300-350), but you will sacrifice a bunch of power and torque, and they won't hold the heat as well.
In either case, you can further improve the heat situation by getting your headers ceramic coated by a place like JetHot.
Whatever headers you choose, make sure to also get a matching Y-pipe.
Quality of the headers aside, yes, you can still have a catalytic converter in the system if you so choose. You can't re-use the stock one(s), and the replacement(s) will not be in the stock location. This option costs more, and is still illegal in some states. I'm not sure what the laws are in Massachusetts.

Kooks is a good choice too.
