Long tube headers on 97 z28

I have been doing a lot of reading on here and mostly everyone says that long tube headers are the only way to go... Well i talked to an exhaust shop yesterday and they said that Long tube headers on my stock z28 would only give me about 2" of ground clearance. This is not going to be a track car and i love tearing the back roads up in this car. My driveway is also on somewhat of a hill. That being said i was wondering from someone with the experience that has had this done to their car how was it? Did you have any issues? dragging your pipes off, scrubbing going over railroad tracks etc.?

Thanks,

Dusty
