Just finished my Header Install

Today I finally finished by QTP header install after two days and 14 hours of work, and OMG was it worth it. Set off four car alarms driving back from the shop.

I'm still running straight headers though because the Shop on base closed early, so I'll be putting on the Y tomorrow. Now, some reason It took me so long is that I ran into some snags along the way. One of them being the ARP header bolts I ordered. turns out I made a dumb move and ordered PN ARP-400-1201 from summit w/o doing some research first and ended up getting the wrong bolts. does any one have the part number for the header bolts that I do need so I dont have to stick with the stock bolts forever?

the other thing was the EGR block off plate that I had gotten. again, jumping the gun I bought PN WND-9007 from summit, and it ended up not fitting properly on the intake manifold. I ended up rigging up something else temporary to block off the EGR, but I wanted to know if anyone knew where I could get the correct block off.

Thanks,
Steve.

Thumbs up

Grats... glad to see you're still able to type after the install.

As for PN's... why not just call Summit and get the correct header bolts and block-off plates?

Open headers, for that true NASCAR sound.

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure that if I keep open headers, it would probably take me a week before I get pulled over on Base.

Well, finally finished with the ORY and re torqued all my header bolts. Went to go turn it on and IT WAS QUIETER THAN BEFORE THE LT INSTALL!!
I'll admit, I was half expecting it because the same thing happened to my Brother when he did his LT install with LM, But I gotta admit, I was kinda hoping that it would still have that loud, intimidating idle.
But on a good note, cruising speeds are alot more cleared up with less drone, and It's way louder at WOT than before, so I'm happy about that.

if you want noise at the touch of a switch get an eCutout installed on the intermediate pipe right before the axle. :-)
