Re: help please what headers should i use for my 96 camaro ss
Going to need more information.
Is the car stock? Is it just going to be a bolt-on cruiser or are you planning on making the car a heads/cam 450 horsepower street/strip car? Is ground clearance an issue? (is it lowered?)
Here's a clip of my 1997 Camaro SS. I have pacesetter longtubes with a 3" off road y-pipe (no cats), and the factory (optional) SLP 2OTL catback.

Also here's a clip of it with Edelbrock TES Shorty headers, stock dual cat y-pipe, the same SLP 2otl catback. When I had this setup I was on Eibach sportlines so ground clearance was a big concern.

The SS is slightly lower than a Z28 from the factory but it's not so low that you'll have an issue with ground clearance. You just got to figure out your future plans. Do you plan on lowering it anymore, do you plan on wanting quite a bit more power in the future?

I just noticed in the other thread in LT1 Tech that your in California and only want to spend ~$300. With that budget and the need to pass smog, your best bet is looking at shorty or mid-length headers. You might also look at the classifieds section on this site to find a set used for cheaper.
Welcome to CamaroZ28 btw, I see that you're pretty new.

But like I said, if your budget is only $300, you may need to look at buying them used. Also, while your in there it's a good time to replace some stuff. When I did my long tubes, I put in new plugs and o2 sensors. I also went with some nicer gaskets and bolts than the cheap stuff that came with my headers.
By lowering springs kit are you talking about the optional SLP suspension package (Bilstein Level II) or an aftermarket kit?
Also, are you doing the install yourself or a friend/shop? Here's a link to a walkthrough: http://www.zmydust.com/headers/install.htm

Note: I put the * in there to prevent it from trying to link to that url.
I'm not sure of those markings, what color are the springs?
