Header bolts popped out at Open throttle, asap what bolts do I need for Pacesetter LT

My friend and I used mustang header bolts and after 800 miles of driving two popped out on the highway at open throttle and the engine light was blinking?????? I drove home and it ran a little funny loud ticking. Engine light wont flash anymore thank god but what bolts are good at a parts store for the pacesetter Long tubes for the 1997 Camaro?? Can I use stock ones from advance auto or autozone???

These good? http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...|GRP2023P_____

3/8-16 3/4 or 1" long. By both...try the 1" first. I use 3/4"longwitm my long tube but once a bolt pops out you may have so damaged threads.

Any kind of sealant on the bolts? My friend did the headers since we were in a rush and the wife wanted the car out. I am selling the car so that's why I'm in a rush.

How easy is it to damage the valvetrain running with the header bolts out?

Not sure it's any easier than with the exhaust intact. The noise you hear is probably a bad exhaust gasket......be sure to change that as well.

3/8 -16 x 1" is the way to go. Put a little teflon tape on them and they won't back out but make sure you heat cycle them a few times and retighten them. I always keep a 7/16" ignition wrench in the center console so I can snug mine down from time to time.

These claim they never pop out again. Going to get them in an hour.

That ticking noise was the header gasket since the driver side header was loose!

Those look cool. I used wire-lockable cap screws from mcmaster carr; do not have any way to use a wrench, only allen, so a few of them were quite a bee-atch to get on. I am going to order a set for the next time I take the headers off.

I run ARP 1" underhead length since 03. No issues. Check them after the first 2 weeks and re-tighten since they've been through some heat cycles.
