exhaust systems with a cat?

my cat has recently went out, and my 97 3.8 v6 has been running BAD because of this. i no its going to be about $500 around where i live to get a cat and it installed...

so my question is, does magnaflow or borla or etc (not flowmaster uless no other options) do any of these companies make a exhaust system with a cat included? i have looked and have come up with nothing.

or should i do a custom exhaust with true duals maybe? i dont no how this sounds on a v6 though.

-thanks

Re: exhaust systems with a cat?

There are aftermarket high flow cats available. You should be able to find a cat and have an exhaust shop weld it into your current exhaust for way less than $500. I paid a lot less than that for a custom 3" Y-pipe with dual 3" CarSound cats and a 4" cat-back connection. All you need to know is the diameter of your existing pipe, so you can order the correct diameter connections, or ask the muffler shop to get the cat.

I've asked several shops, they all say about 500.

Are there any full exhaust systems that include cats though?

Re: exhaust systems with a cat?

Just get one of these: http://www.magnaflow.com/02catalytic...versal=99306HM

Take it to a local muffler shop and have them weld it in where your stock cat was. I got my cat deleted and just a straight section of pipe welded in for $50 so I'd be surprised if this would cost you much more than $100. Another option if you wanted to DIY would be to pick up some band clamps and just use those to get her hooked up, you should be able to find some at auto zone or someplace like that. This will allow for easier exhaust modification down the road if you want to bolt on a cat back at some point in the future. Hope this helps and good luck with everything.

P.S. Don't do true duals on a V6 unless you want your car to sound like a weed eater on crack, stick with a proven catback, magnaflow is always a good choice on V6 and V8 cars, throatier than stock but would be a nice tame sound on your 3.8, good luck, Red.

I didn't see any on magnaflow's website, I'd check around to some various sites like SLP, Summit, JCWhitney, ebay, you're bound to find something in one of those places.

Re: exhaust systems with a cat?

most exhaust system are cat-back..cats are usually bought separate then bolted/welded on you can by a catted Y-pipe and put it on Long tubes or buy high flow cats and have an exhaust shop weld it in..as to say exhaust that comes with cat..probably not in the 500 range at all..you would probably have to buy a complete exhaust system..-headers cats y-pipe exhaust.-

Re: exhaust systems with a cat?

best bet as stated in an earlier post is to buy a separate cat and have it welded in for about 30-50 bucks.

Re: exhaust systems with a cat?

The two front pipes connect to your existing exhaust manifolds. The outlet connects to your factory intermediate pipe. That is a direct replacement of the stock Y-pipe, with cat.

And then a cat back exhaust will bolt straight to this?
