e-cutout stuck closed

My McCord e-cutout is stuck closed. I put a voltmeter to it and it read 12 volts, but its stuck closed. It's probably an elec. motor or something. Is the motor a cost worthy part to replace, or should I just get a new one? Do any supporting vendors sell e-cutout parts? If any vendors could also speak up on possible costs of parts or a new unit, I would appreciate it, thanks.

sounds to me like the electric route is always giving you guys with e-cutouts issues. Dont they have a cutout that you activate with a manual lever?

I have the wingbolt style but say eff it and leave it open.

Not sure about your particular brand, but with QTP cutouts the gears in the motor go out frequently from what I've read. I've personally had one malfunction and they repaired it for $30.

For a manuel lever to be incorporated, a hole would have to be drilled into the body plus probably some gaudy equipment. I see where you're headed though. E cutouts are great when the work. I'll probably just go back to the wing nut manuel deal. Thanks anyway.

Get a DMH and be done with it. I've had mine for 4+ years and the only problem I've had is a little rattle when closed.

Ditto .... I love my DMH cutout. Mine started rattling when closed as well, but Dave promptly sent me a new one, no questions asked. The warranty on them is great!

Thomas.

Mine rattles sometimes, but all i do is tap the button a few times. It will finally seal up and wont rattle anymore.

If you want one, go here http://www.buickgn.com/electricexhaustcutout.htm
