duel cut outs after longtubes?

was thinkin about redoing my duel exhaust with a universal x-pipe kit with cutouts from jegs. what are the pros an cons of having duel cutouts after the headers? was thinkin about goin down to 2 1/2 pipe if i do the cutouts for better ground clearence. oh this will be on a heads an cam m6 full bolt on lt1. car makes around 420whp through the 3" duel system now. will they hurt of help me?

I have dual cutouts on my car currently. The only downside I can think of is the reduced ground clearance.

When I ran my car on the dyno this past fall, I did back-to-back runs. One was with the cutouts open and another with them closed. I gained approximately 10hp by having the cutouts open after the headers. Mind you this is with just a cam and longtubes (no head work).

the ground clearence wont bother me. roads are good around here. im basically tryin to find out if its worth the extra $50 to do the cutouts. if i will gain some power then ill do them.

ive just always heard that you make more power with an x pipe of some sort.

What year car?

I was asking this a while ago and I found out that if the cut outs are located too close to the O2 sensors, they may actually cause O2 false readings, they will pick up on the air from the close opening.

Stick them back a little farther.

this is what i was thinkin about useing. its not very expensive and i could use the 2 1/2 system since i would have cutouts to give me a little more ground clerence.

That kit looks pretty sweet. I have been wanting to do this as well, but after the cutouts, put a Y pipe. If you have the cutouts, why would you even need true duals? That way you could save a little money and not have to worry about all the problems associated with installing true duals.

well its mostly for the sound. no catback sounds as good as a daul setup. also the daul setup is a good bit cheaper. that kit right there is only 149 for 2 1/2 and 169 for 3".

I'm thinking about getting some Pacesetter LT's and that same JEGS universal x-pipe kit, with the cutouts. I'll probably end up going 3" though. If you do end up getting it, post up some install pics, so I can see how well it'd work out.

there's no point in running cutouts on a dual exhaust setup...there just isn't enough restriction.

spend the money elsewhere.

if this is with the flowmaster exhaust you list....that doesn't surprise me at all.
