Cut-out and dyno

does anyone kno if running with the cutout open on the dyno gives any power or with it closed?

i have a chance to run on a dyno this saturday for 10 bucks for 45 mins. i was thinkin about doin it to see about the cutout. ive heard numerous things anout them and want to find out...

anyone know or should i just do it?

Results vary, but there are usually gains involved. For ten bucks to take a spin on the dyno, it would be worth it to find out what yours can do.

well ive had it dynoed before with the cut-out open. just curious if it made any diff with the cutout closed

the point of the cutout is to bypass the rest of the exhaust...making a freer flowing system....which makes more power.

how much more power will vary and depend on the muffler you run. but figure 5-15hp with it open (or vise versa closed).

Depends, if you have a good flowing catback, you might not post much, if any, loss with the cutout closed.

well i have hooker lt's, hooker y pipe, the cut-out then it goes back to the flowmaster 40 muffler, all 3 inch

yeah, you'll see a difference considering you have a crapmaster as a muffler.

My setup dynoed 15 hp higher with my cut-out open. Dynoed back to back with only the cut-out change.
