How much on average would it cost if i installed a set of pace setter headers myself but had a shop install and weld true dual 2.25 pipes? would a place like meineke do a good job or should i take it to a performance shop? how hard would this be to do myself if i have some mechanical skills (worked on semis for 3 years at a freightliner dealership but havent touched a wrench in a year in a half) but have never installed an exhaust system on a car before?

 

I have heard of shops charging as much as 600.00 dollars in labor alone to install a set of headers and y-pipe. Alot of people have successfully installed headers with little experience. If you worked on Freightliners for 3 years, I would have to assume you have some good tools to work with and a fair amount of mechanical experience. Do a search, there are some good posts and writeups involving a header install procedure.
