I'm well aware of the design of the Borla system. Call it "tuneable" if you want, but the range of choices you get go from average flow (with the smallest plate) to just short of Corsa flow (with no plate).

You've never seen a cutaway diagram of a Corsa muffler, have you? It's basically a 3" straight pipe.

Don't get me wrong -- Borla is a very good system. Corsa is just better.

i wouldnt take either of the two...corsa looks better (borla tips look terrible) but i cant justify the price for either...just as long as its not flowmaster, they all perform pretty much the same...with the exception of true duals of course.

I bought my car from someone else who had already put a Corsa system on it, and I didn't pay extra for that.

When I found out that the car had the Corsa exhaust, a lid, and a Hurst shifter (none of which were listed on the AutoTrader listing, but all of which were things I wanted), I was sold.

Why does everyone always complain about how expensive the GMMG is??? It is the same price as a Borla or a Corsa!!!

I've never heard Corsa on a LT1 but have heard them on several other cars and they are a good exhaust, you can't go wrong with it. Same goes for the B&B. The Borla has a tunable sound and I would have to say sounds pretty good on a LT1.

Everyone has their preferance and it all depends on what you like. I got the GMMG because I heard it on a LS1 on the PowerTour and was right away blown away by the sound. It sounded like my dad's old 64 SS Chevelle. I bought it and would never go another route, I get compliments on it all the time and always am told it has a distinct sound. I got it on a group purchase for 720 with the Oval tips.

Like I said, its all about what you like. Listen to some cars (in person) and see what you think. Video clips don't do the sound of some exhaust's justice.

None of these exhaust systems are going to make any measurable difference of horsepower over one another. Get the one which has an appearance you like.

Also, if you look at it from a fluid mechanics perspective, a Corsa muffler is not going to flow better than an open Borla system. The gasses going through the muffler are going to experience more shear than they would going though a strait pipe, plus, the gasses will experience headloss making the bend to enter the muffler. I really doubt the Corsa muffler even flows a measureable difference more than the Borla, both beign strait through designs. Not that this really matters though because its not going to stack up to a measureable difference in horsepower.

At the point when either of these systems becomes a restriction, your only bet is to step up to true duals.

That's all fine in theory. However, fluid mechanics is never that simple.

Just did some Borla research -- they have two versions for 4th gen F-bodies. One without the adjustable passthrough (basically the same as the Corsa setup, $830), and one with ($990). They are indeed a straight-through design -- I didn't know.

Corsa costs $912 or $938 depending on which tips you choose.

Feel free to compare any LS1 M6 lid+borla dyno numbers to mine.

I just bought my Corsa from Jeg's and it was like $680 shipped. (I can't remember the exact number). I believe the Borla is more expensive.

You know, on the Borla with the plate removed, it's just a straight pipe. If you plan on running it that way, just get a straight pipe after the cat instead. Someone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

BTW, when I got my Corsa, I took all the parts out and looked at them. Sure enough, when you look into the inlet on the muffler, you can see straight through to the outlet on the other side... no obstruction. But it's not like just having a straight pipe since there's resonant chambers and such to reduce the sound with the most minimal of restriction. I think the Borla with the plate removed essential bypasses the muffler completely.

I'm not saying the Corsa is better. That's very subjective. Both make good HP. It's a matter of personal preference.

I did some looking around, people do see better rwhp gains on the Corsa. Still kinda has me since the Borla is a straight out design, whereas the Corsa is a straight through design with some sort of noise baffles that would have to hinder flow. But as you said fluid dynamics are never that simple. I still don't like the sound of Corsa myself, or the tips.

I took my Borla tips off my SS and put on stock Z28 rectangles, and it dramatically reduced the sound and changed it all around, although I'm considering changing to the SLP tips now.

No baffles. The Corsa uses reflective sound cancellation. There are tiny holes in the sides of the pipe that passes through the muffler. These holes are connected to chambers that run parallel to the pipe. Corsa designs the chambers to perfectly reflect the sound back into the muffler in a way that cancels out the unpleasant (in their opinion) sound frequencies.

In theory, it works similarly to noise-cancellation headphones (while there are of course significant differences).

I don't think it can get any better than that! You have a clip of it revving?

yes need more

also do u like GMMG without cats, there are a few ppl that prefer the sound with cats ...im just stuck here whether or not i should go to cats

i prolly wont tho

ON TOPIC:

Like mentioned each exhaust will not show a measurable difference in power

so when choosing basically ur choosing for looks , price and sound

i have the GMMG abviously b/c i think it sounds great

Wont the GMMG be about as loud as the Loudmouth?
