Best shorty headers with CARB EO#

I appologize if any of this has been covered before. I've done some searches and haven't found any real comprehensive opinions. I have a 1994 Z28 Camaro.

I'm considering buying some somg legal headers, and there are quite a few options. I'm wondering if anyone can share their opinions or experiences on some of the different smog legal headers that are available for the LT1.

So far, I've found the following manufacturers that make 50-state legal headers for the single-cat LT1: BBK, JBA, Hooker, SLP, PaceSetter, Edelbrock.

I think I'm most concerned about getting the ones that are least likely to leak and have the best fit.

My vote would go to SLP, but I'm biased because that would be the only set of shorty's Ive ran or had on my fbodies that I likes aside from my longtubes (Kooks).

The BBK's that are on my '93 in my sig IMO suck. Plus access to plugs is not good at all, especially with the y-pipe connected.

While I was awaiting my Kook's for the '95, I used a borrowed set of Edelbrock's TES's, and IMO, those were the worst I had seen, and also the smallest primaries I do believe.

Thanks for the reply!

I've been in touch with a local shop and the guy there recommended JBA headers, but said they may have been discontinued for the LT1. Apparently the SLP shorties have been discontinued as well.

I've read mixed reviews of the BBK and Edelbrock TES headers. For the price, the pacesetter ones might be a really good option.

hooker shorties are not that great but plug access is ok for shorty/mids. you can find big single cats for the included Y pipe. why not go LTs w/ emissions?

if it's ride height i can understand but i also found out dropping the car so low that LTs scrape doesn't help handling or 1/4 mile anyway

I should have mentioned that I'm in California

I ended up going with the PaceSetters. It seems like all the shorties that I've read or heard good thing about have been discontinued, and for what else is out there I couldn't beat the price.
