im going to get an electric cut out, and i was thinking of just putting it flat our right after the Y-Pipe connects.
I don't have a cat so thats probably where it would be hanging out at.... I know everyone puts their cut out way back by the axle, so im wondering if anyone has ever done this and how they liked it.

its going to be loud regardless of where you mount it, but keep in mind its a lot easier on the ears to have it dump at the axle. mine is manual at the cat, well, really in place of the cat. and its jammed open from the heat, its loud, and it almost gets annoying after a while...almost.
you'll lose ground clearance. the cutout and the motor are bulky.
there is an indentation just before the axle, fits a cutout and e-plate perfectly.
and really...does 2ft of straight 3" pipe have any affect on power? NO
but it will help sound inside the car

well im getting an electric so i can keep it closed under normal driving and open it when I want the extra power.
so teke184 your saying placement doesn't effect power? wouldn't the closwer you get to the header be the best cause the gasses are the hottest, therfore would have a greater effect on HP.

you're talking a distance difference of about 2ft....so the power difference between right off the ypipe and jus tbefore the axle will be a fraction of a hp at best.
probably going real crazy and putting dual cutouts right after headers only gains you a couple hp over a single cutout on most moderate hp level cars.
i'm sure on a 500hp engine it would be more, but for bolt ons...no way.
