About to install electric cutout, need help with wiring.

I bought a 3 inch e-cutout and I'm wondering where I need to get the power to the switch from. I plan to put the cutout where the converter was, unless anyone has heard to put it further downstream. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks

This would be worthy of a search, there are a few ways you can go about wiring up the cutout and it comes down to a matter of your own preference. My preference would be to take the power source from one of the switched ignition sources out of the interior fuse panel on the side of the dash. As for the cat location, the spot right before the rear axle is the popular choice.

i heard in another thread a guy wiring the Red (hot) wire to his cig lighter because it only draws power when you flip the switch. can anyone confirm this? and how id go about doing it, just splice into the wire? im hoping to wire my cutout this weekend.

Yeah, that might have been me.

I took out the center console and ran the wire under the carpet and out thru a slit in the plug under the passenger side rear seat..

wiring wise I just spliced the red wire from the cutout into the red (I think) wire for the cig. lighter.... And black to black.. (used a couple of those quick "crip" connectors - blue..not sure if that is a size thing, or what???)

DMH power wires from the switch were only 12" ??? long, so I needed nearby power to do it w/out extending them... (but, this is how I told them that I'd be doing it, and they custom made up the wires)

Slam dunk. Only working on my heel kick technique now while hanging on the rim..

Placed rocker switch on the panel where the cig lighter is... (cut out rectangular hole w/ dremmel)
