My brother has an 86 with a 305. You can't even hear it running when you are sitting in it. It is all stock. I was thinking of removeing the cat and putting my stock 4th gen muffler on it to help it breathe and sound better. Would this be good for a cheap (almost free) mod or is there something better? Just trying to make the air flow better and sound more like a Camaro. Would this be much better than his stock setup?

 

removing the cat will help...but the 4th gen muffler isn't any noticeable amount better than what's probably on it.

put a $30 bullet muffler in place of the stock one...that'll wake it up
