We are estimating the car will make 650-700RWHP and I am wanting to know if I should do 1 3/4 to stepped 1 /78 or just do 1 7/8????

The next question is how is the fitment and where is everyone getting them??? I heard some guys had to do remote oil filters, smaller starters, and remove the heater box????
I have a Brand new GM LT4 starter and a 4L80E is going in the car, and I still have the heat. Just wanting to know my options and priced?
Thanks
Not sure about your application but I spent the big bucks on a set of stepped headers for a N/A application and all I had was headaches w/o any gain in power. They leaked, hit the motor mounts and rusted. All for about $2k.

Hell of a deal, but please feel to step in line in front of me.

I have since gone to a true dual system and have the 3" Kooks aluminized Y pipe sitting around if you decide to go that route...My cam is a 226/234 with lift a tick under .570

Thanks for the off but I plan on running a Flowmaster y collector (Flows really nice) instead of the tradional y.

This may sound strange, but from what I have seen the Bigger headers work better on small camed cars??
The new LS3 with the L92/L76 topend mixed in with a stock cam in the low 200 duration and lift in the .550 with 376 cubes benefited with some 1 7/8 headers???

I have the Jethot LTs and the coating seems to not be working really good anymore on the bottom side of the headers. I had the car on my lift the other day and I really just wished I went with a Stainless header .
The cheapest place I could find the Kooks 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 stepped was T-byrne at $920 but I have only called a few places.

After pissing away so much money on something that I “felt” would work, I actually did some homework on stepped headers. If you talk to people like Larry Meaux whom writes racing software, he will tell you getting gains from stepped headers is hit and miss. He does not have a formula for consistency. People who have seen gain will also tell you none of it was over 1% hp. So in a 500 rwhp car the most gain anyone has seen would be 5 hp. On mine it was none.

Other people will of knowledge will tell you they flat don’t work. Sure wish now that I had not gone on popular rumor and had done the proper research. I’d more than likely given the 1 7/8’s a try, but that also is controversial. The only way to know for sure is to do a before and after dyno session with appropriate tuning. Remain amazed as to how each car seems to have it's own personality.

Never will do coated again. Owned about four sets of coated long tubes and every one got dull and started to eventually show some rust. Had a set of coated Hookers recoated and that didn’t last either. I now take a can of cheap high temp spray paint and touch the headers up every now and then. Getto… but what can I say, coating is very overrated in my bood.
