moving to raleigh/ cary NC area

hey my family is moving to the raleigh or cary in NC, i want to do some research about the area like where are the good shops to bring my car to, suspension, trans, engine upgrades, dyno tuners etc... how strict are the emission laws and most important, where are the closest 1/4 mile tracks from that area

im so not looking foward to moving but i cant stay here on Long Island alone i cant afford it, I just hope there are more benefits to me leaving NY in the long run

thanks guys

There's a place called F-body motorsports in the Charlotte area. They're on statesville road. That's the only place that I know of particularly in that area. Also, in Myrtle Beach SC there's a shop called CSS that does a lot of work on F-bodies. They're a little farther away but worth checking out if you don't mind the trip.

It's nice down here. You won't regret it.

There's a good car scene too, check out these sites..

www.carolinaautomasters.com <--local tuner and performance shop
www.ryansperformance.com <--local tuner and performance shop
www.horsepowerjunkies.com <---local car/performance scene forums
www.carolinafbodyclub.com <---local f-body forums

There are 2 1/4 mile tracks within a 90 minute drive from here, plus many more 1/8 mile venues. There are at least 4 dynos in the Raleigh area.
Emissions laws? Just like anywhere else, there's ways around them if you're sufficiently determined (and lots of people are around here). But they probably aern't as strict as the emmisions regs you're used to dealing with on Long Island.

We don't have to deal with much bad winter weather down here either. We average perhaps one or two light snowfalls a year and sometimes none. Average highs during January are in the high 40's to mid 50's.

Any other questions, just ask...

Yea, NC is the sh*t.
I am from Harrisburg, NC, AKA Charlotte Motorspeedway, but I go to school at NC State in Raleigh. I love NC and the weather is awesome. I have lived here my whole life and I would dare to say that it is much better than NY. I don't know of any Raleigh area fbody places but I do know that there are definetly a lot of car guys down here and plenty of places to go cruising at. It is hard to beat the strip at Myrtle Beach in the summer.
