Post HELP!!!!!!!!!! I got wires burning!!!!!

Hey guys, I am having problems with my bird. It wouldn't start the other day due to the hatch being left open overnight in the garage. I went to crank it then and the starter did the click click which told me the battery was dead. I went and got a charger and hooked it up the the battery, it indecated that the battery was in fact very low. Chargewd it for a few hours and still no crank, this time no click. So I let it charge overnight last night so that it would get a full charge. Checked it this morning and it looked good on the meter on the charger. I hop in and still no crack, this time no clicking ether. Hook up the charger again and it shows dead as it was before. So the next thing is a new battery. Installed it, hoped in to crank it...nothing....but this time I see smoke under the hood!!!!!!! One of the fusible links that connect to the RED juntion post on the fender was burning through the insulation!!! I jump out and disconnect the battery. The only time it would smoke the wire was in the start position on the key turn. The fusible link that I am talking about is one of the two singles that connect to the red juntion point. There are four total, but two of them share one connector. What is up with my car!?!?!?!?!?!? It was running great til the hatch got left open and drained the battery!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
