Will Strange engineering narrow their 12-bolt if you were to ask?

I would like to get a Strange 12-bolt narrowed by 1-1/2" on each axle tube, all suspension mounts would remain in the stock location. I want this so I can have some Iforged wheels made with 4" to 4-1/2" lips.

Is this something that strange would do if I was to ask for it?

Has anyone done something like this?

Any opinions and help would be greatly appreciated.

I was under the impression that Strange does not deal with the private buyers, that you must go thru a distributer?

Simply buy the "3rd Gen" rear axle, rather than the 4th Gen. It is 3" narrower. You would just have to specify the correct brake mounting plates. Strange has these dimensions shown on their website.

Strange will build anything you want, and you can call and order directly through them. I've ordered custom 12-bolts from the before. I bought one that was 24" from flange to flange before for a Pro-Street car.

Moser will do the same, but they can do either 12-Bolts or 9" axles.

Who said anything about "1 inch per side"????

Per engineering drawings on Strange website:

3rd Gen = 61.72" wide

4th Gen = 64.72" wide

Fred - Thanks for the follow up. I understood what you were driving at the first time around. But now it should be clear to all.

One more question and I'm done.

Just to be sure. Are all the suspension mounting points the same on a 3rd gen rear as they are on a 4th gen rear?

Re: Will Strange engineering narrow their 12-bolt if you were to ask?

When I started this thread I was a little disapointed with some of the answers I was getting. But as always, people come through to give up goods. I wish I had known about this site when I started modding, life would have been so much easier. Anyways, great thanks to all who helped, my path is now clear. Time to spend some money.
