? will puting a 3.73 in change my shift points alot

i just bought a 3.73 gear and havent installed it yet,when i do is it going to change my shift points when i put it in drive,if it is what is the best way to fix it.also it has a 2.73 in it now

it will change ur shift points in relation to mph but not rpm, i went from a 2:73 car to my new one with 3:73s all u gotta do is change the speedo. good luck wit them its gonna wake ur car up a little, mine chirps second now

im assuming u have a lt1 94-97, for my 94 i use a hypertech, u can use most hand held tuners, and i think you can buy a speedometer recalabration box or somthing im not sure

My understanding is that even with the speedo properly calibrated it will need to shift earlier when going to bigger gears. This is because of a MPH/shift point table. Your gears are a bigger ratio, thus the desired MPH will at which you want the car to shift will be lower. You may want to modify the 1-2 shift table to stay in first a bit longer though, makes the car more responsive, instead of shifting to 2 before the car even gets going in normal driving
