Will my A4 survive a 1,500 mile trip?

I'm moving from Michigan to Texas and I bought a 94 Z28 while up here. The car is in great condition except for the tranny, it's starting to slip, but drives fine as long as I'm easy on the throttle and keep the B&M Shift Improver on the firmest setting. The fluid is pretty dirty but I don't want to risk draining it all and losing a Forward or Reverse gear. Is there anything I can do to improve it? Will it survive the 1500 mile roadtrip back home to Texas? I don't want this thing to crap out on my halfway through the trip.

put in a bottle of lucas trans. it works pretty good for temporary "fixes" like worn clutches, i think you will be ok as long as its not slipping in overdrive, if it is then i would suggest getting it fixed before you go
