whats the problem...?

I have a 95 trans am with 59000 miles on it. When im accelerating theres a clunking noise.. its not constant its kind of random clunking in the front left of the car..feels like maybe near the tire area from where im sitting... Then once the transgo shift kit throws me into 1st theres like two more little clunks and then its fine from there.. i was thinking maybe a broken tranny mount but im not very bright on these things.

I would definitely start with the tranny mount. Very easy replacement.

How much do they cost, what kind should i get, and what would you say the level of dificulty installing it would be? Would i need to pick up a Haynes Manual? Also should i replace left and right while im at it? THe sound is only in the left but should i just do it for security reasons?

Re: whats the problem...?

well i discovered it was just my drive shaft skimming up against my exhaust when i first step on the throttle.. no biggy its just the very tip of the cat i just installed touching it whihc eventually will be worn down so it wont do anything. BUt now i have another question.. When i put it at WOT today there was a descrete clunking in the rear for a second.. dunno if its anything common or if its a problem i just felt like asking
