Re: what gears to use

I personaly would prefer a 3.90 over the 4.10 but you cant get one for the stock 10 bolt.

Re: what gears to use

I assumed it was a m6 b/c of the 3.42.

If you plan on doing nitrous stay with the 3.42 or 3.73. Otherwise do the 4.10s

Re: what gears to use

I have 3.73s and that is the max I would go with a daily driver. If you are
willing to compromise and will do enough 1/4 mile stuff to make it worth
while then 4.10s. Definately nothing more than 4.10s.

Re: what gears to use

I just did the 4.10s. I still have to get the speedo calibrated, and you can count on doing some suspension work too. First gear is pretty much useless after the gears.

Re: what gears to use

I heard that the 3.73 gear was stronger than the 4.10 because it had an extra tooth in the pinion. For an m6, go with the 3.73. For the racetrack, use 26 inch slicks.

Re: what gears to use

If its an M6... then i say 4.10+. I dont understand why everyone with an M6 is scared to go high on the gears. The M6 with a 4.10 gear still gets better gas mileage than an A4 with 3.23 gears.

You do run the risk of breaking easier with 4.10 than with a 3.73. So if i were you, i would run stock gears until you can afford a 12 bolt... then i would step up to 4.11 or 4.88
