I have a 1994 Trans Am. I am doing a huge modfest in about two weeks. I am trying to decide on a stall convertor to compliment my setup. I was thinking a 3200 VIG, but found a crazy deal on a SY (super yank) 3600 stall.
Here are the mods that will be on my car when all is said and done (after modfest):
K&N FIPK
Hooker Longtubes
3 inch true duals
1LE Elbow
Ported LT4 heads (should be in the 310cfm range intake)
Ported LT4 intake manifold

That should be about the majority of it. I also plan on a NX 150 wet kit about two months down the road.

If you don't think that is a good convertor for my application, please suggest one to me.

With the rockers, cam, and gears, looks like you're set for some upper RPM power.

I don't think you could go wrong with either setup. The Vigis are notoriously underated, so their 3200 would be just like a Yank 3600. I hope you don't run into trouble with not shifting into next gear with big stall problem that plagues some people here.

My theory on stalls is that they're like tint. Everybody is worried about going too far...then once they get it they wished they'd gotten more. Get the big one.

Are you running the stock converter right now? You're looking at probably .8 seconds gain in the 1/4 with the new stall.

Nah, right now I am running a 2500 stall with the full exhaust, intake and tires/wheels.
I have heard that a nice big stall feels incredible at a punch. I was rather surprised how much extra the 2500 picked up over the stocker.
Looking forward to it.

Read up on the shifting problem people have with OBD1 computers for higher stalls... I just bought the SY3500 yesterday myself. Good luck with everything

Well, I have heard that the different tuners can fix that problem with tuning. I was just hoping I wasn't "over" stalling the car?

Not for NA, my cam is smaller than yours and my 3800 is to small.
But you'll have to compromise because there is no converter that will work best for NA and spray. The extra power of the spray makes the converter flash much higher
