My car has developed a strange metallic whine, almost a groan, that i can only hear when cruising at low rpms and give it some gas to accelerate.

Its such a low sound its hard to tell where is comming from, but could this be the gears in my rear end whining?

 

Gears usually will whine on accel or decel.... Its a humming noise from the differential.... But I did notice you have a manual trans... Does it make the noise in any particular gear?????

 

Ive noticed it most when im in 6th gear cruising and let my RPMs drop, then give it some gas to speed up. It will do it under about any condition where RPMs are low for the gear im in, and i accelerate.

it almost sounds like my E-Brake is on, and ive double checked it a few times lol...

 

did you ever get this problem resolved if so what was wrong???

 

dude, this thread is 6 years old. That has to be a new record.

 

doesnt matter how old it is he had a problem and most likely it was fixed, everyone sais do a search so i did, now ppl are posting about others posting on old threads.
