What do you know - or think of - GM rebuilt 4L60E's ?
The tranny in my car took a dump on the 24th, and it is at the mechanics right now.
From what they tell me, it sounds like
my aftermarket warranty is going to cover things, but trather than rebuild it themselves they are going to go w/ the GM unit.
3 year 50K warranty on it as opposed to a 1 year w/ them doing it , plus I am sure there are some constraints being placed on them by the warranty company as well.
Anyone here used one ? Kinda sucks that it will be all stock & therefore in no way beefed up, but in this case beggars can't totally be choosers.
Thanks !
Britt

Re: What do you know - or think of - GM rebuilt 4L60E's ?
i had one, i bought my car used from a gm dealer and they sold me an 'aftermarlet warranty' which wasnt a warranty through the dealership itsself, even though they had to do all the work on the car. after the first trans went out, the oe remanufactured replacement that they put in free of charge lasted 10 months.

GM reman units (SRTA), or dealership rebuilds are built to GM specs, and with stock parts. This means that the same "design flaws" that the stock transmissions have are built back into them.
If you're looking for "better than factory", I'd check into a performance rebuild. Be careful about where you look, though. Some rebuilders aren't as reputable as others.... Check for "word of mouth" references on this board.

Before I bougt my car the tranny was rebuilt by the dealer (I know the tech) so far it went a season with more than a few WOT runs... well a lot of WOT runs but it was almost stock then. I will have some stuff done before i make REAL power.
Re: What do you know - or think of - GM rebuilt 4L60E's ?
I've had a dealer installed GMPP rebuild for about 30k miles of beating on it with a supercharger and nitrous...has held up fine during street use with a few track days. It's just now starting to go, but that's at the 600rwhp level. If the warranty will cover it, go for it...otherwise if it were on my dime I'd upgrade to a better one.
If you don't have one already, have them toss in a cooler while they're in there. I supplied the part and my dealer waived the labor since there were already in there and it was just a couple zip ties and rubber hoses.

Hopefully, my new one will do so as well.

Speaking of rebuilds...what's the realistic horsepower level people are building the 4L60E's to these days? I'm looking for one that can handle supercharged 600rwhp, plus a 100-150hp nitrous hit.

Sorry, we usually "dyno" our cars 1320 ft. at a time, so I can't say exactly how much HP these cars are making.
If you're question were...Can I build a 60E to handle what you've got? My answer would be...Most definitely.
