I have an 4l60e it is broken with just 1st and 2nd. The weird thing i just found out was that if you put it in drive or 3rd it doesnt have anything i will just roll backwards like it is in Neutral. when you put the selector in 2nd or 1st it will move along with reverese. I know i need a tranny but i just had a baby and bills are too high and i dont want to park it for a year.
Thanks guys

A wasted input sprag will cause it to not move in O/D range, but it will still move forward in manual 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. This is because you're bringing on the over-run clutches and the transmission is relying on them to move forward.
Burnt forward clutches or a cracked forward piston will cause the same symptoms.
You're saying it won't move forward in manual 3rd range???

I'd have to go with Frank on this one, but if its not what he said then I would def check your muffler bearings. I also heard that if the fluxcapasitor in the tranny gets hot it will cause the 4-5 clutches to go out.

Not moving in D or OD would not be a wasted input sprag it would be a low roller clutch or planetary issue, If it was the input sprag it would move in the D position , In the low posiion the low reverse clutch comes on bypassing the low roller clutch and in the second position because some cars actually can start in second, though the low roller clutch is not on second gear applies the band and the low roller is not used in that configuration ,
If it was the input sprag it would work in D normally
