What broke, clutch or tranny?

What broke, clutch or tranny?

Ok so this isnt for a f-body it for my bro inlaws 94 Eclipse, He was in 5th gear down shifted to 4th and nothing. Tried al other gears and nothing at all no noise no nothing.

I know jack about manuels so how do i tell if its the clutch or if its the tranny?

Sounds like clutch to me. Transmissions I dont think just go out like that.

does he still have 5th?

if not, he probably broke a shifter cable(has 2)

Yeah it has 5th but it doesnt work either, when i get it up what should i look for to find out if it is the cable? where does the cable come from and go to?

both cables go from the shifter the levers on the trans, the levers are probably easiest to see underneath

once you locate toe levers on the trans, have someone move the shifter side to side and front to back, and see if the levers move at the same time(BTW, there are 2 cables, one for front to back, the other for side to side)
