What brand stall should I get?

I am looking to upgrade my stall converter in my LT1. I have a LT4 Hot Cam, 30lb SVO injectors, 58mm throttle body, 1.6 rrs, and soon going with 3.73s. What is the best converter for my car with out breaking my wallet? I am thinking about going with atleast a 3200. Please let me know what you think. Thanks.

The Edge is popular with the b-body crowd, few other 11 second NA b-bodies running them besides mine, I am very happy.

Yank and Vigilante are both good too, their billet covers mean they cost a couple hundred more and IMO VERY few can use the strength of a billet cover.

I'm a Yank man all the way after no less than 8 different LT1/LS1 stall convertors.
I wish they were less expensive - sounds like Edge may fill that void.....

I stand by Vigilante. Had two with zero problems. I almost went with Edge due to their price, but had to go with a tried and true converter.

I got a tci streetfighter (3000 stall). I love it. I consistantly dropped .4 tenths in a quarter with traction. It is very streetable, just add a trans cooler.

If you can afford it I'd go with a yank.

Imagine what you would have gained with a good converter.
I already had a mild zz4 cam in my car when I did the 2800 Edge and built tranny and gained .8 on street tires still.

I never raced on the 2600 Level 10 POS I had in between.

I have also found that with the Edge stock cooling is definetely adequate at least for daily driving and drag racing, if I were road racing I am sure it would be another story but then again the current 3400 would be a poor choice for that anyway.

I put a small plate style cooler in place of the GM external one and frankly wish the tranny ran a little warmer than it does, a lot of time it runs in the 150s, 160s in warm weather, stays under 180 even after a dragstrip pass.

If you "need" extra cooling that is pretty much proof of an inefficient converter, heat is how a converter loses energy.

edge all the way for me from now on. LOVE mine. I got a 3800 street edge. its relativly tight on the street, lockup works great, and I took .5 off the cheap 3000 stall I had in it before. and it worked ok, for what it was. mostly from the 60foot. my 60's are between 1.56 and 1.65 on almost every run when the tires are up to the task.
when I bought the convertor, I wanted a conv. that could go low 10's on nitrous cause that ws the plan. turns out that the owner of edge converters has a car almost identical to mone drivetrain-wise, and he runs mid11s N/A and 10.20's I think is what he told me on the juice. dame exact converter I have. 3800 street edge 9.5"
never got around to getting nitrous due to the rear end and roll cage cost. now Im selling the car, and parting out most of it. goin back to stock, engine and all. I'll sell you my 3800 9.5" street edge for $425 plus shipping. they are $540 new plus shipping if I remember right. I put it in last fall. its been to the track 4 times, got maybe 1000 street miles on it. basically brand new still. will be in the car for a few more weeks, but Im pretty sure I wont be hitting the track again with my car. just street driving while I still can.
even if you decide not to buy mine, get the edge street convertor. you wont regret it.
and I say 3200 is bare minimum, but only if street driving is your main priority. if you want it to be as fast as it can be at the track, and stil drive great on the street go with a 3800.
