What 4l60e trans will be a direct replacement for me?

I am hoping to find a trans to replace my 94 4l60e with so that I can sell it. Right now the fluid looks dark and has metal shavings in it. I also has resistance if you try to go in reverse like the emergency brake is on but its not. I am trying to weigh my options as to just buy a used one or rebuilding the one I have, but Idk how bad the damage is. My uncle rebuilds trannys on the side and said it would be $200 plus any parts. I have also posted that I want a 4l60e over in the parts wanted forum. What years are interchangable that are direct replacements? I think I've heard some years won't work. Thanks for the info.

You'll have to locate a 1994 4L60E. No other years are a direct replacement. GM switched to the Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) lock-up strategy in '95, and the transmissions had an extra solenoid to conbtrol the converter apply.

I have a used 4l60e out of a 1994 Z28. It has 65k miles on it and it still worked when I took it out. I got a cam and nitrous so I upgraded. You can have it for $250.00. It is at my shop in Phila, Pa. It is stock w/the stock torque converter still attached.

Are there any leaks or any problems at all with it? Did you use it when you had the cam or the nitrous?

Absolutley not. The car was a full bolt on car before the cam and nitrous. I changed the cam, trans and added the nitrous together.

I did race the car at the track with the bolt on stuff a few times throughout the years, but it was mainly a Sunday driver. I changed the oil in the trans every other year since I did not drive the car much. The fluid was always bright red.

The car has less than 70k miles on it over 13 years and I am the original owner.
