Weird T56 issue

The Camaro SS in my sig had what I thought was a clutch issue recently; I was about to exit the highway, and it wouldn't downshift into any gear but 2nd (I had been in 6th). I limped it home (barely), took it apart, and checked everything out-the hydraulics hadn't ruptured, the pedal still felt ok, and when I pulled the trans, even the clutch/pp/tb showed no obvious problems. I replaced the clutch assembly, and its doing the exact same thing- when running in neutral, you can't shift into any gear without pretty severe grinding. It will shift into each gear fine with the engine not running. Any idea whats wrong? I'm pretty sure it must be something internal with the transmission. Thanks.

How big a deal is that to fix? any idea of the cost (ballpark)? I have rebuilt 4 speeds before and will probably try to do this myself.

When you can shift normally with the engine off but it grinds with the engine running it is usually because the clutch isn't releasing completly not because of a transmission problem.

I have experienced that before too, but I would find it highly unlikely since I changed the clutch/pp/tb and still have the exact same issue. The pedal feels fine, and the hydraulics aren't leaking or showing any issues.
