Vigilante & Shift Kits

I am gearing up to install a vigilante 2800 stall in my 1995 T/A and am also installing a tranny cooler. Do most of you run a shift kit with this setup? I know people who have added TC's and not a shift kit. I also know that most companies recommend a kit with a TC. Any comments or experiences with / without shift kits? I have searched but could not find anything .

Thanks,
Stephen

I used to have a 94 Z28 with a vigilante 2800 stall as well. I also had the tranny rebuilt along with the transgo shift kit and b and m tranny cooler installed. I reccomend it . That car was awesome. Unfortunately I wrapped it around a concrete light pole 2 weeks later and never got to experience the full wrath of my setup.

Shiftkits are nice but not needed. After you add the TC you definately want a tranny cooler. Then either do a shiftkit or get a good tune with the shiftpoints adjusted and TM deleted or at least tweeked a bit.

If you can spare the extra $$$ for the install then I highly recommend the shiftkit. It'll make a world of difference and it should help prolong the life of your transmission. If money is tight just get a good tune at a performance shop, predator or ls1-edit if you have it.

BTW I would consider a vig3200. A very awesome street/strip converter that'll give you a noticeable boost from the 2800. But either way you do get one free restall within 2 years I believe.

Good Luck

Money is not an object for this upgrade... what is a shift kit after already laying down the money for the TC? I will be ordering a shift kit with the TC and cooler. I had thought about letting the re-programming that I will be doing take care of it. From what I have read, the 2800 is about the most widely used for an LT1 car while LS1's tend to like the higher stalls.

Thanks for all the help and keep the experiences coming... I know there are more.
