Vigilante converter

There is a Vigilante converter that I was looking at buying. I see them every few months. This guy has had it since 2002 and it has 12K miles and has been in storage since 2003. What would you say the most this is worth? Is it a good idea to go this route or is new the only way to go? He has no way to prove the stall is 3500.

I'd say 350-450. You should be able to call Vigilante with the part number and get the specs. Converters are something I like to buy new or from someone I trust.

Dustin's right a bout buying a used converter. if there is any trash in there, it can take out your tranny, and a converter needs to be cut apart to have it thoroughly cleaned out and inspected.

The Vigilantes are built based on a spec sheet submitted at the time of the build, where they estimate the torque of the engine and try to build in the right stall. If it is put in a dissimilar car from the original, the stall might be at a different RPM.

I have always used Vigilante, but friends have had good luck with Edge. They might be somewhere to look if your wanting to save a few bucks.
