With the vig 3200 do you just plug and play with this thing or do you have to make any pump/tranny mods??? Thanks.

just put it in! the directions that come with it are a little convoluted. Unless you spent about a grand you didn't get the multi-disk converter that they tell you to remove the little check-ball valve in the instructions. Just be sure to get a tranny fluid cooler or you will cook the tranny, the higher the stall the hotter the fluid!

No, I was wondering if I got the multi-disk because that was the only one with instructions in the manual then I called PI and asked what I had, but I called from work and didn't have the numbers on the side of the box. The girls said somthing along the lins of "If you didn't spend about a grand fro it you didn't get the multi-disk, and you should not remove that check valve with the normal converter it could wear it lockup clutch quicker then normal. The multi-disks were designed for more holding power and take a little more pressure to lockup, we recommend to remove that for faster lockup with the multi-disk"

This was all prompted by another thread like this one, when I was about to install mine. You can search for exactly what I found, it was fresh on my mind at that point, it has been a few months now!

Unless you know what you were doing I wouldn't recommend trying to rebuild yourself search and you will find out why, but there are many reasons.

*** EDIT *** Hold on after reading what you just posted a little more, I think you are nuts and want to waste money so nevermind have fun with that combo!

might not be a waste if

Like what I am doing............... a local tranny shop is offering their shop, tools, etc and the owner is going to personally assist me with the rebuild.

True but even with that kit it is not optimal, yet is does have some good things in it there are also things that could be better, and in your case you have a professional watching over the work, but nothing says that it will come out well... There are way too many posts on here about local/reputable shops not knowing $hit about how to properly build a 4L60E. If you use the kit mentioned above, it does away with SOME of the downfalls of the 60e but not all of them! And a good local tranny guy usually just puts the sub-par gm replacements back in, that is why they fail again. Not to say your guy doesn't know what he is doing, but he may not know what the best thing for our cars might be!

I bought my Vigi 3200 from a board member for 415 shipped, these converters cost so much new and there are plenty of good ones on the boards. My only other mods to the trans is a B&M trans cooler.

Yeah, that is why I like them they are good quality and you can send it back to be restalled, free in the first 2 years you own it then a couple hundred after that and it is like getting it refreshed! they realy are a good investment and there are not too many of those in project car mods!

How do you like the 3500? I'm concidering getting one and want to know what people think. I wanted something alittle smaller (3000) but have a chance to get 3500 for a good price. Is there much difference there. Give me your thoughts.

I am still getting used to it, I had a few problems when I went to the track where the OBDI computer hated it! I ran into the infamus stall wall, do a seach for more info if you are not sure what that means. But I finally got that computer fixed the weekend before x-mas, and I had to put it away, because of the bad weather. I will be breaking it out again soon and hopefully I will do pretty good this season!

As far as liking the 3500, well it was not my daily driver, but I have driven it to work and back a few times and in trafic it is a little different. It feels like you are racing the motor to move with other people, then you get them staring at you because it is soo loud, well I think that is my case anyway!
I like it and if you learn to live with a few things it is great!
