Two different ranges per gear???

Two different ranges per gear???

im new to chevy auto transmissions, and it seems like in 3 and OD there is like a hi and low gear because the rpm's keep changing in these gears. is it just me??

You have a lockup torque converter. You are probably feeling the converter lock and unlock. In highway cruising, you will see a 200-300rpm increase when the converter unlocks.

Yep, and lockup occurs in both 3rd (if in D) and 4th (in OD) above about 40 mph.
