Turbo 400 questions and wiring on 700R
I need some wiring help on a tranny swap for a 1993 Z28 from a 700R4 to a Turbo400.
The 700R4 has Reverse lockout solenoid, vehicle speed sensor and backup light switch connector as displayed on page 8A-201-20 in the GM Service Manual (ST368-93). All wired to the current transmission.
The turbo400 has a manual valve body. Can I use the backup light switch connector on a Turbo Action Cheeta Shifter?
Is disconnecting the Reverse Lockout solenoid going to cause computer problems?
What do I need to do to get the speed sensor working or do I need to? Since the car is speed density will that effect the performance?
The turbo 400 is a short shaft and I am going to have Advance Driveline here in Orlando cut it down, weld the new yoke, supply the new universals and balance for $115. I would like to have the DS ready to install without measuring. My searches have not found the proper length. Does anyone know the correct length of the DS considering 1" of back off for safety?
I am going with a spohn TA adjustable.
This car is a 98 percent strip car.
Lightened: no bumper supports, !rear seats, !carpet, !AC,!ps!heater box,!air bags,!heavy dash supports, !air ducts,!speakers,!radio.
One other thing: the guy that sold me the car disconnected the Tach Filter off the coil. Now the tach (both the factory and the Auto Meter) jump under acceleration which will most likly cause the shift light to light up prematurly during hard accereration.
Does anyone know of a replacement or the resistance or do I just order that part of the harness from GM?
Thanks for any help,
Jim in Orlando
