truck nine inch rear end into 95 fbody... what do i need?
hey guys
ive come across some good deals on nine inch rears. id like to do a conversion into my 1995 m6 z28. im a pretty skilled welder and have some guys that i work with that are rear end specialists, what all is needed for the conversion?
what length axles do i need? can i use the stock axle tubes? my car is equipped with ABS, what do i need to do about that?
if someone could give me a quick rundown on a 9" conversion itd be helpful. itd be extra helpful if someone can suggest some high strength parts to go along with the swap, maybe even some part numbers. im sure this has been done plenty times, it's just that you can't search for ' 9" ' because it is under 3 characters. thanks guys!

I was thinking a long time ago about doing his but its really not worth all of the work you needto do. You need to make brakets for the shocks, torque arm mounts, control arm mounts the rear neds to be narrowed, umm, you lose your brakes...I cant remember what all else had to be done but what I ended up doing is aking out the center section and getting custom axles and a moser housing and restoring it from there!
The torque arm mount is the killer. Lot's of stress.
Does the truck rear have the gear ratio you want? Does it have a limited slip? Is it in good condition, or need a rebuild? Is the width between the axle hub faces in the range of 61.72" (3rd Gen) to 64.72" (4th Gen)?
You aren't going to be able to handle a 3-channel ABS system, although is should be easier to adapt a 4-channel ABS/TCS setup.
If you have to have it narrowed, buy new axles/bearings, rebuild the center section, add a limited slip unit and buy new gears, on top of adding all the brackets and figuring out how to add the torque arm bracket, it might be cheaper to just buy a ready built unit. Or look into the low-$$$ 8.8-inch conversions that are being done.

i havent really looked into the 8.8 conversions. what i was planning on doing is getting a 9" centersection, building it how i want it, and going from there. but i am definitely going to look into the 8.8 conversion now
