Angry trany sings on accel...

i have a 2000 camaro ss with a six speed manual. i think its a t-56 (the stock tranny). when i accelerate at lower speeds and lower engine rpms the tranny seems to sing. it doesnt grind or anything like that it just makes that annoying noise. any ideas???

Sounds like something is wore, is it in multiple gears or just 1st. Could it possibly be your rear end whining. That can sound like its coming from the trans. The Autobahn is hell on american cars, they just arent made for the sustained high speeds.

i dont think it is comming from the rear end but i guess it is possible. i will have a buddy of mine stan outside my car while i drive by him. if it is the rear end what is the best thing to do. could it be the tranny/rear end low in fluid? i think it is the tranny cuz i changed the clutch out about 1500 miles ago. i think i put all the fluid back but im not sure. i am going to pull out the drain plug and add some more till it over flows.

It could still be the rear end, the faster you get going the more high pitched it gets until it is no longer audible to you. I am not sure about the trans, it could possibly still be in there. I was just responding because no one else has.
You may want to open your rear diff and check for metal just because its easier and then drain the tranny and look for the same thing. you could also jack the car up and look for excessive play in the pinion.

to check the play in the pinion put the tranny in gear and try to twist the drive shaft. se how much it moves before tires spin? i had a buddy of mine listen and he couldnt say where it is comming from he said it sounds like it is in the middle but there is nothing touching the drive shaft i looked at that. i put it up on jack stands and looked at the shaft and there are no wear marks. there are no rub spots on the body either. i spun the drive shaft cuz i thought there may be something inside but it didnt sound like there was. i think after i come home from leave i will check the rear. ill drain it and look. i think i will ask the mechanic if he can help me cuz i have never done that and i dont know what to look for. thanks for the help!!!
