transmissions the same?

are the tranny's for the ls1 and lt1 the same? thanks in advance.

No, & they use different torque converters.

I've never tried this, but I think it may be possible. What about a bellhousing from a truck (Let's say '98 truck). on a 2 piece case. The bolt pattern on the bell is a traditional SBC pattern on those, and so is an LT1. If you use an LS1 style converter for the larger input splines, wouldn't this work? Are the crossmembers different on an LT1 and LS1?
Obviously this would only work on '95-up 4L60E's.

I believe the shafts are longer on LS1 trannies.

I think the non LS1 bellhousing is about 6.75", and the LS1 is about 7.25", about .5" in difference length. I don't think this will work.
