Transmission speedo differences

What is the difference in 4L60E trannys where one has the speedo hookup on the drivers side (bigger connecter) and the other has the speedo hookup on the passengers side (smaller connecter)?

Re: Transmission speedo differences

Just a GM design change. The exciter ring on the output shaft is identical on both. You can swap tail housing and speedo assemblies from one to another...As long as you have the correct housing/speedo for the vehicle. Also remember this only applies to pre '98 units. In '98 GM went to the 2 piece case, which has a 6 bolt tail housing.

Re: Transmission speedo differences

Is it possible to just swap electrical connectors, or is the actual wiring different?
