Transmission pan bolts help?
I got a nice aluminum transmission pan for my 4L60 transmission in my 1997 Camaro Z28.
The problem I have is some of the bolts won't go into the pan because the bolts have the built in washers that don't come off and the pan was not clearance in a couple of places for them to fit.
Home Depot has the right bolts with the an Allen head on them but the are "black oxide".
Will I have problem with corrosion Because it black oxide going into aluminum?
You know the dissimilar metal deal where it will corrode.
I was thinking of trying to find stainless steel bolts.
Help.
Thanks,
Chris G.

Re: Transmission pan bolts help?
I am not sure about the corrosiveness of the two different metals contacting.
You can do two things if they do infact, have a negative reaction:
1.) Look harder for the correct stainless steel bolts
2.) Use a stainless steel washer on the black oxide bolts.

Re: Transmission pan bolts help?
I'm sure the stock bolts are galvenized to reduce corrosion from the rain water, ice, salt. I've installed a Hughs pan for a friend and it came with the black allen head bolts.
