Re: transmission mounts?

There is a single block of rubber, under the tailshaft of the tranny, resting on the tranny cross-member. You support the weight of the tranny on a floor jack, unbolt the mount and drop the cross-member, put the new one in and reverse the procedure. Very easy, other than the fact you are laying on your back under the car.

You could simply buy a stock mount, move up to the "1LE" mount which is a little stronger, and doesn't seem to increase vibration a whole lot, or use an Energy Suspesnsion poly mount that is virtually indestructible, but may cause increased noise and vibration that irritates some people. I doubt you would pay more than $25 for any of those, from the right source. Many auto parts stores carry the ES piece, or a stock replacement, since GM has been using the same mount for about 40 years. The "1LE" would be a dealer item... find the part number (Shoebox has it on his site) and get in touch with Jason Cromer.
