I have a 1993 z28 lt1... im getting ready to replace the transmission in it... i am planning on getting a used trannsmission.. i have been told by several people to get the right transmission i will have to get the transmission that was made specifically for this car... is this statement true or could i get a variety of 700r4's for my car.. any and all help will be appreciated...

As I recall, there are two different types of 700r4; one will work, and one won't.

I'm sure someone here will be able to be more specific.

Why not rebuild the one you already have?

 

Yours has a unique electrical plug however you can modify this to work with any 700r4. Finding a specific 93 camaro or ta trans would I am sure be quite a chore.

 

Most 93's are electric. as in the speed sensors and all are not cable driven. most anyother 700r4 is cable driven. I would rebuild the one you have but if not you need the 700r4 4L60E trans. and they have alot of problems. if you do go that route you will end up either buying another and so on. best thing to do is rebuild the one you have put a good race shift kit in and and she'll be good for another 100k or so as long as its taken care of
