Trans won't shift into overdrive....

The trans is the 4l60e in a '94 Z28, I put a Trans Go shift kit into it, and a Vigilante 3200 stahl. I took the car out on the highway for the first time today since the install, and it won't shift into overdrive. I had the RPMs up over 4000 with the shifter in OD, and it just won't shift in. I tried bringing it up to 3500 in drive and then clicking it up into OD, but it still won't shift. The trans has enough fluid in it, and its not running really hot or anything(about 160* F). Did anyone else ever experience anything like this or know what would cause this? Could it be in the computer? The shift points where changed, but I wouldn't think that it would have to be at 5000 RPMs to shift into it.

hey Did you do the servo, I'd suspect a cut sealing ring or piston in backwards, thats where I'd start. Fourth gear is the piston in the cover the first one that comes out...you don't have to remove the whole servo assembly, just the cover..hope this helps...Dave

Re: Trans won't shift into overdrive....

Is driving the car at slow speeds like this going to hurt the trans? Also, I remember when I put the shift kit in(that was about 2 months ago), that one of the pistons came out different than the one on the video, but it said to put it back together the way they did on the video, so I did. I wonder if thats the one. Do you know of a site that would have a picture of the piston youre reffering to? Thanks alot for your help.

Not to be SMART!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe you put the shift kit in wrong. I would go back through the directions to double check yourself.. I hope this will help you.

It also won't shift manually. Anyone have anymore advice on what to do? Is it possible to be in the computer, because I'm really dreading taking it back apart.

I would say you need to go back through your shift kit install. Programming should not cause it not to shift manually.
