Trans install-bolt on verter or trans first

Trans install-bolt on verter or trans first

i got the converter on the trans and i am about to jack it up in place. So when it is in place do i bolt the trans on first or the conveter?

I would bolt the tranny to the motor then bolt the converter. If you do it the other way something may not line up perfect and the converter could fall forward. I did this years ago on my monte ss. I thought I had everything right but the motor would not touch the tranny housing. I used the bolts to pull it together. Well.... It bent the flex plate and put such a load on the thrust side of the rear bearing that it ate the thrust side and plugged the oil pump. Fortunately there was no real damage. Replaced a load of stuff and became really **** when it came to putting the tranny back in. Somehow the converter fell forward. You'll know when you have it locked and in place.
