trans fluid change when installin tq and shift kit
ok so im going to have a shift kit installed into my trans and the only thing im worried about is the fact that my trans fluid was pretty brown and im changing the tq so it will be all brand new fluid when i fill the trans back up....ive heard that putting new fluid in an old trans will mess it up bad....is this true? also what is a good brand of transfluid to use when i have it reassembled?
Use a oem type of filter. It must have on it SP, SPX, filtran, or "microfelt" on the filter. Many auto parts carry them. A Duraprene pan gasket is the best to use, and torque it to 65-75 inch pounds. Do not use any gasket sealer. A good quality non-synthetic Dexron III fluid such as Mobil, AC Delco, Aamco (which is Mobil repacked) will work here. Flush the cooler and cooler lines. Drain the transmission as best possible. If you want to improve the TransGo Shift kit? Let me know?
