Tranny Problems

Cruisin 75 MPH, very very tired. I notice it is taking significantly more power to retain the same speed. Mhmm that is strange.

Eventually I have to floor it to keep it at the same speed.

Finally it free revs, will not gain speed. I am losing speed on the highway.

Pull over, dump a liter of tranny fluid.

Start the car, drive in to 1st gear. At about 30MPH the transmission slips and I am free revving.

I pop it in to 2nd gear, bam I gain traction and I'm goin. I let up on the gas a little bam it drops down to idle and I am again free reving. Drop it in to first, bam I have a gear again.

So, my tranmission is ****ed correct?

I have 118,000 Miles on my 95' Trans AM A4

I just bought it about 3 days ago. I replaced the alternator, put in a new optima battery, changed the oil, topped off the fluids, a new K&N air filter. (obviously has nothing to do with tranny)

Would it be cheaper to have a shop fix my tranmission. Or should I just replace the transmission all together.

Is it difficult to drop in a new transmission? My friend has dropped acura motors in to civics and offered to help me do it.

Where can I find a transmission for dirt cheap.
