Tranny options...

I am going to be building up my LT1 into a 383 with about 450rwhp...what are my options as far as tranny goes? i could have it rebuilt...i could replace with a 700r4..or something else...

If i swap to a 700r4 what are the pros/cons?
If i use a 700r4 can i eliminate all that crap under the console and utilize a B&M shifter instead?

Thanks for the info doods!

A PROPERLY built 4L60E is more than capable of handling that HP range with no problem. We have them in cars making much more HP.

Re: Tranny options...

The 700R4 when setup correctly & matched with the right torque converter, can hold 450-550HP & with very little problems. These are setup to have smooth accumulated part throttle shifts, and firm WOT shifts. I have a few in the 10's & 11's, and many more in the 12's & 13's doing quite well. If I can be of help, let me know?

There are guys running B&M shifters with 4l60e's, so if that is part of your deciding factor, then I say get the 60e built well, and install the B&M and you will be happy!

Re: Tranny options...

I have read other posts from Frank (CPT), that said shipping from California or some long distance away from him was less then $100 or so.. Give Frank a call and he can build it for you and get you a price on shipping the Tranny.
