torque converter question?
Re: torque converter question?
U can get a general idea of what the stall speed of your converter is by holding the brake and giving it gas until the tires spin and whatever RPM they spin at is a close guess. This isnt the best or most accurate way to do it but itll work somewhat. Are u just trying to figure out if u have an aftermarket converter or what???
Re: torque converter question?
well if its a reletivly higher stall then u could do the brake test and it will tell u, if its a stock stall then the tires should brake loose somewhere around 1600 rpm when holding the brake. I have heard about the OBD1 shifting issue with a higher stall, so check it out and let us know.
Re: torque converter question?
Go to www.edgeracingconverters.com They have some good info on converters. Llyod Elliot recommended of three brands that an Edge converter is a good deal. He ranked them up there with Precision Industries Vigilante and Yank converters. They have a section that explains brake stall, true stall, etc, Good reading.
