Torque Converter Install

How hard is it to install a torque converter? I've done minor stuff like headers, alternators, and starters and such but i just really learned what a torque converter is. Is it worth saving money and doing it yourself or having a shop do it. And how much should a whole converter setup be?

Re: Torque Converter Install

Converters range in price from ~$200->$1,000. To a point, you get what you pay for. But you may not need a high end converter, it depends on your combo and intended use. It's not that hard a job but it is a lot easier with a lift and tranny jack. Getting to all of the bolts requires a good set of extensions and U-joints for your socket set. Be sure to fill the converter with ATF and seat if properly when reinstalling.
